A guideline:

• Is your content for a MOOC? Do you want to share your knowledge? If so, use an open license so that others can use and build on it.
• Is it your proprietary information that you don’t want others to use without your permission? Retain exclusive copyright to your content.

I prefer an open license so that anyone can use, adapt, and change the work.

• I use the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Here are some examples:

If the content is from a book, I attribute the original author.

Exclusive Rights

However, you might want to retain the exclusive rights to your work.
